SHARP MARBLE

2014

Set of marble knives for leather working. The point of the project was to challenge the rustic aesthetic often associated with working knives by replacing modest materials such as wood and plastic with one that has a higher inherit perceived value, in this case marble.

Part of the experience was to make the knives myself and it was challenging to work with stone for the first time as I encountered many problems with the fragility of the marble.

The results are three knives, a skiving, a pattern cutting and a pocket knife.
